Kyle Wegman produced this table with my assistance (give credit where it’s due). The wood is from Hearne Hardwoods ( ). The drawer is not yet complete but will be shortly.
Thankgiving required a functioning coffee table….

The top is bookmatched instrument grade quilted maple. The apron and legs are instrument grade curly maple. Hearne’s were good enough to provide me with the best quality maple on the planet! The drawer front is cut from the apron and is an exact match. We used Macassar ebony as an accent wood around the drawer front.

The table was finished with three sprayed coats of orange shellac tinted with analine dye. Two coats of conversion varnish were sprayed as a final durable topcoat.

This isn’t an advertisement for Hearne Hardwoods, but if you don’t know them yet you should definitely check them out. They’re one of the largest fine wood dealers in the world and they’re a family owned company.

Sorry for the poor quality photos…

Nice table! Can you tell I have a fondness for quilted maple? Thanks for sharing the website on Herne Hardwoods, I’ll take a look. I’m looking forward to seeing your completed project.

That’s impressive. I absolutely love curly maple. The ebony accent is perfect. Nice design too.

Thanks for posting it.
