It is an optical illusion, it is a circle, and actuallly i have made about 4 or 5 of these, i handle a lot of walnut, and they are not gifts i sell all my work, family has been in the lumber business for generations, everyone has just about everything made out of wood imaginable.

Gorgeous Walnut !!

I have made several Lazy Susans for folks …...One guy wanted one for his mobile home…it was just big enough to cover the 4” bearing that it rotated on…it was for his salt and pepper shakers !!! Oh well ,his money was green , so I took it from him ….LOL
