Stool Sample......

I built this still so I could see how well I like the design. So far, I line it pretty well, but I think I’ll modify it with a deeper seat, making it more square, and I’ll experiment with scooping the seat as well.

Anyway, it’s made of SYP, the legs are 32” long, and the stretchers are dadoed in, then held with 3/8” dowels. The stretchers are cut at 5ยบ on each end to give a little stability. Overall it’s about 16” wide 12” deep, and the seat is about 33” from the floor, maybe a little, tall, but I like it.

The seat is a single piece of SYP 14” by 10”. I put braces across it to help mitigate the infamous SYP twist and cup.

I finished it off with satin spar urethane, but I think I’ll look for something else – any suggestions? I’d like to make it a little less yellow.

Thanks for looking!

This does not look like a stool sample :) I think it looks great. Nice job.
