Saw this box somewhere and liked it so I made one for my wife this Christmas. The box is made of maple with a walnut top. The base was cut out with a scroll saw out of two and a half pieces of 3/4 inch maple then laminated together. The base was glued back on and then shaped on a disk sander. The rose on the top was from a pattern in Dennis Zongker’s book Wooden Boxes who I met here in Omaha at Midwest Woodworkers, really nice guy. The carving is not as nice as his but the wife was happy with it.
