I have made several of these signs in different sizes. They make great gifts. I used 6/4 oak, stained it with Minwax Early American stain and finished it with lacquer. I think this is a very welcoming Welcome sign.

Very cute and well done sign, Tim! 8/4 is pretty hefty. What are the other dimensions? Are they made to hang or as shelf sitters? Thanks for sharing and welcome to Lumberjocks!

Candy, thanks for the comments and good questions. I mistyped the wood thickness originally and have edited it since you posted. It should have read 6/4 not 8/4 thickness. This is still rather thick but quite a bit of wood is removed during the cut process. I have cut this project with 4/4 and the end result was a bit thin in places for my liking. The overall finished size of the Bear Welcome sign in the picture is 16” x 13”. Display methods are a matter of preference. One of my customers has it hanging outside her home, we have one sitting on a plastic easel on a table. I have made smaller ones for gifts that can easily sit on a shelf. There are lots of options as I can resize the 3D model as desired.

Thanks for looking and the for the kind welcome to LumberJocks. Happy New Year!!
