This is a Jewelry Box that I built for my Granddaughter last Christmas. (2013)
Hallie is 6 years old and has Peters Anomaly.
She had Cornea transplants in both eyes before she was 6 moths old.
She suffers with Glaucoma in both eyes.
She has had several surgeries to attach artificial vents to her eyes to help reduce her pressures.
Needles to say when she asked me to build her something I was committed to make something that was both uniquely shaped, textured, and it needed to play music.
This is what I came up with.
Obviously is in the shape of an “H” for Hallie.
It’s made of Maple and Walnut.
It’s kind of a hybrid band saw box.
The musical movement plays “Beauty and the Beast”.
Her mother says she opens the lid all the time to hear and watch the little movement do it’s thing.
Although the craftsmanship could have been better, it came out OK and she loves it!
Thanks for looking,
