We needed a bed, so I decided to build one. Luckily, my local sawmill had a little bit of curly cherry in 8/4 that I was able to use for the legs and rails. I used curly maple for the raised panels in the headboard and footboard – one of those boards was 14” wide and had amazing figure – I couldn’t bring myself to rip it in half to fit through the planer, so I worked it down by hand. Finish is boiled linseed oil and Waterlox.
