I finally finished my cherry/maple toy boxes for my two sons. It’s a good thing I don’t have five kids! Ughh.
These were fun to make. The legs, rails and lids are made from cherry and the panels are solid maple. Three coats of polyurethane (hvlp). The panels were pre-finished before assembly. The design is my own. In some of the pictures the flash really highlights the poly-dust from buffing with steel wool (Oops). The lid is curved in the front (difficult to tell from photos). For design and in process pictures click here. Comments welcome.

Very nice toolsbox (chest). Sure it is very lasting one.
OOp! what happened to your son’s left sock? Did you mention you used sock for buffing? LOL..
Great job.
Take care your handsome boys, your family and yourself.

The look of satisfied customers is hard to beat. These toy chest turned out fantastic Brian. Like everything you make they are heirloom quality. I bet your kids will one day hand these these down to their kids. That cherry will patina beautifully over time. Again great design and craftmanship.
