That walnut has some fantastic grain in it. I like both the box and the cutting board. Great save…..

Pretty nice. You don’t usually see the dovetails facing the front.

That is so fun to take a chunk of wood like that and turn it into something beautiful. Excellent!

Very nice projects. I think as “green’ woodworkers we need to make more use of ugly duckling wood. A beautiful piece of walnut like this deserves a better end than a landfill.

Nice work, I agree with Gary, the dovetails out are great great. What kind of finish did you use on the box? and the board?

The finish is wipe on gloss poly for the box. 1:4 wax to mineral oil on the cutting board.

How did the walnut get burned? I especially love that box, what a little gem. Really like those forward-facing dovetails.
