Very nice. Do you like the butcher block finish? I am finishing my first cutting boards and used Good Stuff Butcher Block finish from the Michigan Maple Block Co (recommended by my local hardwood dealer) on 3 of them and straight mineral oil on another 3. I really like the butcher block finish but I am a little worried about the smell. It seems to retain the smell of a “varnish”...probably because it is. Does the Watco finish do the same?

The Watco finish smells like Watco Danish Oil Finish when it’s applied but now that it’s dry I can’t detect any odor. I’m not sure I’ll use it again though. To me it’s to much like a poly finish. I had to buff it a lot to get it to look right. Maybe it’s just me and I didn’t do it right. I used a mineral oil finish on a dough rolling board I made the wife last year and I like it better. The wife is happy with how that worked out so I guess I did good on that one. I’m new to cutting boards, these being my first, so maybe some LJ’s who are more experienced can give some better insight.

Nice boards. I get confused about the pro’s – con’s of butcher block finish versus salad bowl finish. I have my first boards in the planning stages… material on hand… I have a can of salad bowl finish that I was planning on using. Guess it doesn’t make much difference.

I like the first color combo the best, and the last is quite interesting….
