This was a collaborative effort between myself and another member of our local woodturning club. It is for an upcomig ‘Fun Turn’ contest. The object was to incorporate Ash in a turning. As well, you could collaborate with another member if you wish, which we did. It was truly a FUN turn!
Since woodturning is such a solidary effort working with someone else from design through completion certainly put a new ‘spin’ on things.
This project definitely took me out of my comfort zone by challenging me to ‘turn air’, turn a burl and a hollow form. Even the finer detail of the finial brought it’s challenges. ;)
This was an exercise that I am looking forward to exploring more, not only by including this type of project style and type in my future turnings but by working with someone on another project.
If you are interested in following this project from design through completion I have a six-part series that begins here.
Thanks for looking!
