Hey all,
Just finished this box as a gift for the in-laws. Someone had given them this Motawi Tile a few years ago and it has been siting on their kitchen stove for a few years so as I was wrapping the garage shop up for the year I thought I would make a little present for them. The box is designed from a project in “WOOD” magazine back in November 2006. It is Quarter Sawn White oak and Red oak. (I was using scraps laying around.) I feel like I rushed the finish and left some errors but I am not that conscerned about it. This was my first box and I learned my table saw blade is out of square with the table because the miters were tough to get right. I ended up also adding a “Spline”, not sure if right term, to the mitered ends. I built a jig to hold the top verticle on the table saw and slice a slot out of each corner and inserted a glued piece to stregthen up the miters. This was also a first.
Fun project and now everything is cleaned, waxed, and covered until spring. Man I wish I had a heated shop that did not have to house my wife’s and my cars.
Thanks,
Glen

You can have your wife move to florida and you can have the entire garage to your self after you purchase a heater. Or you can move to florida or you both can move to florida or you can buy a second home in florida, wait that’s not going to work. How about building a bigger garage. That’s it a bigger garage. I live in Floirda and I can’t wait until winter comes, when its cool enought to stay in the garage for more than a few mins. I could air condition the garage but it would cost toooo much.
Its never perfect….. enjoy when you can..
PS the box is very very nice. A great way to display a small tile.

Where did you get the Motawi tile? Was it pricey?
