1st Pic – To me this looks like a group of Christmas carolers
2nd Pic – two bells I turned, left is poplar and the right is from my sweet gum tree (not sure what that wood has a specific name)
3rd Pic – is poplar, this was just practice wood buy my 6 year old thought it looked like a stamp and wanted to keep it. So I told him he could if I could straighten/dress it up a bit for him and so this is what it looked like when I gave it to him. Still need to get a Z put on the bottom so he could actually use it.
4th Pic – is wood from an old garage door, I believe it was some sort of pine. I intended to have a top on this to look like the bottom, but the top broke off and so I refined it a little to look like this.
5th Pic – Is sweetgum, I like this side because of the stripe down the hat.
6th Pic – I believe is Oak, it is from an old piece of furniture I received in the USMC from WWII.
Most of these had beeswax applied while they were on the lathe and buffed off.
Pics 4-6 were all sanded, given a burnishing then given a coat of tung oil and followed with a coat or two of beeswax.
