My dad burns wood in his living room fireplace to help heat the house in the cold Minnesota winters. His wood box was made from old beaten up plywood painted white. I figured a little fancier box would be a good Christmas gift. It was made with a mixed bag of wood laying around the shop. Cedar plywood for the sides, old door jams for the top & bottom rails, and a 2×2 length of Hickory for the posts. I found some old flooring to put down as the floor of the box. It was finished with a coat of spanish oak stain and a couple coats of poly.
