My wife hates clutter – I like to see everything I own. Here’s the compromise; the box and dividers are marblewood, mitered joints with cocobolo and rosewood keys. The top is a floating raised panel made from a knotty piece of red oak scrap. Finished with danish oil. Lined with brown velvet.
I made every mistake possible in the construction of this box and learned a heckuva lot.
It now sits on the entry table in the hall and all of my stuff can be seen by lifting the lid.
Woodworking saves another marriage!
I built the lightbox someone posted last week and used for the photos. Came out pretty nice.

Beautiful little box!
Woodworking saves marriages because the more time a man spends in the shop, the less chance he’ll have to say something to get himself into trouble.

Nice box.
I’m Lucky enough not to be married just yet.. Although I do have a Girlfriend, and she hates clutter as well, my Garage is a little more organized then my house or our house rather and she hates it lol.
Good work.

Very nice, good job. You really put it right out there most would not put a top on with a knot, and it came out great.
