wood for the future

Project by socalwood posted 351 days ago 1184 views 0 times favorited 13 comments Add to Favorites Watch

the economy is a mess right now , and wood sales really slow , but we keep bringing in high quality fire killed logs by the truck load. I just can’t stand seeing this old growth going to the landfill or the grinders. I see something in almost all logs and hate having this resource wasted. In our small way we are keeping this carbon fixed for a great many woodworkers to enjoy in the future.

That’s beautiful wood you have there. I dream of sawing my own wood someday. SOME day…

Right on, can we afford to waste anything . That’s great looking stock. Looks like a gold mine to me.

That’s a serious chunk of wood you have there in your claws …...Shame about that huge split in it …..Thanks for recycling this valuable resource : )

Wonderful looking wood. There are a lot of nice projects there, saved from the landfill.

You’re right, it would be a shame to turn all that to sawdust. Good going!

Dusty, That’s not a split, that’s the start of quarter sawing!

These very old logs are in bad shape and yield poorly (the number of useable pieces) for all the work we put into them , but 60 growth rings to the inch on some of them is very attractive to me .
