This natural edge bowl is from a piece of persimmon that was left behind by a tree trimming service. The best wood is free wood. The bowl is less than 1/8” thick! I first sanded the bowl up to 400 grit, wiped on a coat of BLO and let it dry on the lathe. The next step in the finish was to sand it back up to 600 grit and apply three coats of high gloss Waterlox.

Absolutely stunning! At first glance I thought it was an antique silver bowl with a gold interior. Very nicely done.
