I’m posting projects more rapidly than I’m making them because I’m catching up on several months of hobby time.

This set is the first in a new batch from this stock:

Dimensions are 6×9 x 2 1/4”. The side thickness is 0.308” from 4/4 walnut milled (to 0.709), resawn (to 0.340), planed (to 0.308), and sanded. I think this might be the most I can yield from 4/4.

The construction steps were performed while making five sets of boxes to keep me practicing on one tool for a longer time.

  • I did buy a new flat top rip blade to make the spline dados.

What are all these boxes going to be used for? Gifts?

Yes, Christmas gifts for the family. See the body has a picture of the final packaging with bows and cards.

David, this is a nice batch of boxes. I especially like the latches you used. May I ask where you found them? Thanks.

Looks like you have been bitten by the box bug….no way of getting rid of it now. Great job by the way

Love those very, very nice boxes. That shop area looks pretty darn nice too, I’m jealous.
