I have been meaning to turn a serving platter before the holidays. I finally was inspired by a section of 8/4 hard maple I came across in the shop. Has a great stress line from a stifled branch or ?. Just a couple coats of shellac on it now, a final coat of wax, and its ready for cookies!

That is really sweet. That stifled branch really gives it interest.
