You might recognize this project as a U-BILD design. I made a few alterations like using dados/rabbets for the side and back panels,, and also the drawer slots. I also used dovetails for the drawers and a bit of a different necklace hook arrangement inside the side doors. This paticular one I made for a friend from red oak. I have another in production for my daughter which is made from Wisconsin Cherry. Completion date Xmas 2008…surprise !

This is a very nice project. The only negative thing I have to say is the pulls and knobs are not my style

Great job!
As to kolwdwrkr’s comment about the pulls, it’s true that the brass-and-white-ceramic look isn’t “in” right now. But I think it’s a classic style, and I like it.

Great looking piece. I like the knobs though. I guess when making something for someone else, one needs to make it to their specifications and expectations.

Yep…I hear yah. One of the toughest things I think there is in woodworking is using the right knobs and pulls . Ha ha ha. I took her around looking at the knobs and pulls at various places before I put them on. I also had some of my own and held them up to see what she thought. Brian guessed it. The ones that are on there are the ones she picked.

Very beautifully built jewellery cabinet.
I think your friend just likes the handles very much. You may give your professional advice, but she has the final say – “the customer is always right”.
