This is one of mom’s Christmas presents. I made the funeral urn when dad passed last month but we hadn’t done anything with the flag presented to her at the funeral. Made from cherry and finished to match the urn; Georgian Cherry stain and Arm R Seal for a shine. This was a combination of plans. In WOOD magazine they had one that did not require the 22.5 degree cuts. All cuts are 45 and the bottom piece fits in between the two uprights. I opted for a traditional dado cut for the glass instead of going with that plans’ additional pieces for in front of and behind the glass. I used the same router bit for the base so they would both match.

Thanks for looking and have a great Christmas.

Nice flag box. Sorry to hear about your Dads passing.

Iʻve made a few of these … need to make more cause gave all my spare ones away to friends.

When I made mine I put a dado for the glass but instead of gluing it in place, I screwed the bottom into the sides. If the glass ever got broken, the owner could remove the bottom and replace the glass. The screw holes in the bottom was hidden with stick on felt pads.

The back was screwed on.

This looks great bud! I’m sure your mom was really pleased with everything.
