Macadamia Nut European Style pen in platinum.

Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you write with one. This is a really lacey looking pen – similar to lacewood, but even more so.

Now I’m curious to try one of the lacewood blanks I have as a comparison, until today I haven’t had the desire to do much with them – they came in an assortment of blanks from Woodcraft. Come to think of it, apart from being a pretty useful wood ID tool, I haven’t used most of them yet. Been having loads of fun with the other LJ’s offerings, trades and such. I guess there is more of a personal connection to those woods.

Macadamia is an evergreen, introduced to Hawaii in the late 1800’s, which is chiefly grown for its nuts, the dense reddish wood is used for pens, jewelry and other small gift items. This is the last in the Hawaiian series for this auction. (But I still have a more from the 50th state to take for a spin). Five days in a row, not a bad trip. Five days more than I’ve been there. Back to the mainland tomorrow, somewhere I’ve actually been close too, globally speaking.

This is the 13th item in my 30 day project/challenge
& auction.

Great looking pen! Love that wood – definitely reminds one of lacewood – I’ll be interested to see the comparison when you get to it.
