not scary. it is a gopher snake, big time rodent eater. we casually see several snakes a week here , including rattlers , it is just really odd that this one climbed up and inside or the mill frame-

Taking care of business in those hard to get places, I don’t think I have had any mice or rats living in my mill or I would need some help also.

He looks like a travel stop. But I not sure its going to hold up under and pressure. I would put a dowel in him.

Living here in Florida You kinda get used to snakes and such. I would leave him to eat the rats/mice… Better the snake than the rats!
