Last Year I decide it was time to finish the basement. The wife and I decide it would be nice to have a bar. Like any good project a new tool or two may be in order. So after talking it over with her, I had decided I was going to start doing more and more woodworking. So the tool collecting started I got a Table saw, joiner, dust collector, plainer and a plate joiner, and a couple others.
OK…OK maybe I got a bit carried away with the tools but I didn’t have any of these but a $200 table saw that I had for years and didn’t feel real safe using. Safety first, right? So, I replaced it. The pictures show what I created with the tools. I designed and made every part of the bar, cabinets and counter top. The cabinets are Oak, bar wall is Oak and Oak plywood. The counter top is made with Walnut and the backsplash is Maple.
I see myself trying to make bar stools within the next year. That is one item of a list that currently has 23 projects. The best part is that I am looking forward to doing almost all of them.

Very nice bar, I built one a few years ago and it is nice to have. You did a really nice job,by the way what kind of beer do you plan on having at your new pub?

Thanks, BigBob
What kind of beer … Well that is a story in itself. I am also a cyclist (for fun), well a fair weather one at least. I ride and hang with a group and we call ourselves Team Fat Tire. So with that said, most of the times I will have beer from the Makers of Fat Tire, New Belgium, at the bar. http://www.newbelgium.com/index.php

Very nice .. I’m currently in the process of finishing the basement at our new house and have been using sketchup to model a few designs. I noticed that you also have a dishwasher that is not immediately adjacent to your sink (which is what I was planning on doing)—did you plumb the unit yourself? Did you have any special considerations given the distance from the drain/vent of the sink? Thanks in advance for any info you can share

Absolutely stellar! – I love a nice bar! What a great plan to get the (starting) tools with the wif’s permission too. You did a great job, hopefully many thousands of beers will pass across over the years!

Thanks everyone
Dan,
Yes, I did do the plumbing. I just had to add Extensions (added tubing). It was not too bad, just a pain. I had the same worries when I was doing it though. I have run the dishwasher like three times and so far all is good. Knock on wood. ;-)
