OK, so my wife rinses the dirty dishes before loading them in the dishwasher…see where I’m going with this…then can’t remember whether the dishes in the dishwasher are dirty or clean. Maybe this will help…LOL!!
Let me see, green is clean, red is dirty, umm!!
Merry Christmas to you and yours!!

Boy, do I hear you loud and clear brother! Great idea—just hope it helps (I’m afraid my wife would forget to use it). Thanks for sharing, and Mery Chistmas to you and your family.

Thatʻs a great idea for older dishwashers. We use to do that. The new ones have lights to tell you if itʻs clean.

Even with the new one we installed this year what we do is after a meal we put the dishes in the dishwasher and the utensils in a container half filled with water. When we wash the dishes, the utensils goes in the dishwasher.

If the utensils are in the dishwasher … itʻs CLEAN. If the utensils are NOT in the dishwasher … itʻs NOT CLEAN. I know … itʻs a low tech way of doing it but it works for us. lol

That’s neat Lee. We were going to make a marker to pass along for whose deal it is when we play cards but we thought we’d forget to move it!! I’ll bet we’d forget to move that indicator too if we had one. Hard to get old!!

Nice job on it!!..............Cheers, Jim

This is a great idea Lee. My wife was given a magnet that you flip to “clean or not clean” but we have stainless steel on the front and a magnet won’t stick to that as you know. But your idea will work, I’ll just use some double face tape to your idea and that should do the trick! Thanks Lee and Merry Christmas!

Another great idea Lee…my old mind would forget what red and green were for…guess that’s why I still do hand washing…she cooks I do the dishes.

Thanks John, yes, she will have to remember to slide it or it’s just a goofy looking box on the face of the dishwasher…LOL!!

Thanks Buster.

tyvekboy, ours has a light too but once you open the dishwasher and close it once the light doesn’t come back on.

Jim, getting old isn’t for sissies..LOL.

Tony, thank goodness for double sided tape. Harbor Freight is where I get mine :-)

Thanks Sean, it seems the problem is universal..LOL!!

Lee,
Nice idea.My wife made something similar as it takes us awhile to fill the dishwasher. she made a circle out of cardboard and put the smiley face and frown face on each side and hung the medallion with a suction cup. I thought of making a more durable version out of wood. yours takes less effort and won’t fall of the hook.

Tom, mine was kinda a “tongue in cheek” but it works. I stuck it to the dishwasher with two sided tape. At first I was going to make something that flipped but thought better of that idea since it might flip when opening the dishwasher.
