This is a headboard I recently completed for the spare bedroom. It’s a simple design that took a few hours to build. I’ve never built a headboard before but the wife forced my hand by, unbeknownst to me, purchasing a $90 POS made out of particle board that didn’t survive shipping. It was sent back. The other issue with ordering a headboard is they are very difficult to find in the right size as the bed is an odd size. So, after about $30 of poplar and a little bit of java gel stain and Arm R Seal, a very sturdy and custom headboard was made. I assembled it using loose tenon joinery utilizing my homemade morticing machine. I attached the headboard to the frame via bolts and brass inserts. This was a fun project.

Looks great Scomel
I can see how your mortising machine would come in handy for this project. I like this style and have be contemplating making one similar to yours. I built the slot mortising machine and will be using it to build my headboard when it get a chance. Very nice work, simple and good looking!
