Project Information

I was asked if I could make a cutting board as a gift. Well, yeah, I could… I don't really crank them out, but wanted to know more about the recipient… so I got a photo of his motorcycle and instead of my usual quilted patterns, I was intrigued by the dynamic pattern I saw in the photo and decided to challenge myself. I sketched how I thought it would look with different wood shades. The whole project took longer than I expected, so it's a Christmas present instead of a birthday gift… oh well…
Maple, walnut, cherry, jatoba wheels and seat, and the awesome color above the front wheel is from a piece of pistachio.

wheels are a little out of proportion aren't they ?

I'm kidding of course - that is one fine example of creativity, patience and a LOT of planning.

VERY nice indeed !

Very nice. Almost looks more like marquetry wall art than a cutting board.

Makes my GoldWing and Harley cutting boards look pretty dang PLAIN in comparison!
