The bowl was a wedding gift, (a set of four) made in Georgia by my wife’s cousin. The candied pecans, (technically not a nut, but a drupe) are really tasty. Topping off the pecans, a Gold Eurostyle pen made from Pecan wood, (a member of the Hickory family, more info at the pecan wiki.) and was sourced from a fellow LJ in Georgia.
TimD, you sent this in the pen swap, right? (tagged this project PT2, as the blank was in the 2nd round of the pen turners swap) I know you harvested the Poplar yourself… was this from you’re back 40 as well?
The pen is approx 1/3” diameter at the bottom, 5.5 inches long, and is finished with a high-build friction polish, rather than butter and sugar.
This is the 7th item in my 30 day project/challenge
& auction.

ScottB:
Do you have a typing error. This seems to higher up the list than the third item.
Great looking pen.

A closer look / larger picture of the pen would be nice …you have two more boxes to add pix to : )
“The pen is approx 1/3” diameter at the bottom,”
So what you’re trying to say is the pen is more than 5/16” and less than 3/8”.........or 0.33333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333

thanks for that catch karson, stupid copy/paste. Gotta read through after. This is lucky #7
Dusty, I’ll add a couple pix. Was trying to get this posted before I put the little one to bed. Was going to take a few pix of the whole weeks worth of projects this weekend anyhow.
1/3 of an inch… yep, you got it.

Hey Scott, the Poplar was the only one in PT2 that I harvested myself. There’s some Dogwood in PT3 that I got from a friend’s yard. Very nice pen, I really like the color and smoothness of the pecan.

Great looking pen, looks good enough to eat along with the nuts.

Can’t beat Georgia pecans. I am luck enough that I get to walk in my front yard when I want some.
