Project Information

I made the maple vase mainly to practise with my scrollsaw. I taped the two sides of the vase together before assembly to cut the floral pattern. After the vase was finished, I decided to make some wooden flowers to put in the vase. Flowers are all made with various scrap pieces of maple, walnut, cherry, poplar, and pine.

The leaves are just glued to the stem so they're a little more fragile than I would have liked, but since it's just for decoration it shouldn't be moved around too much.

After various stains, everything is covered with 3 coats tung oil and about a half-dozen coats of spray shellac.

Great looking vases. Are those designs by Steve Good.. If so, I have also made several of them. I like the idea of the flowers as well.
