Maple, Walnut and Cherry over wine?
3 woods make up this unique (and fairly tall) wine bottle stopper. The maple is from the offcuts of my Maple Pub table legs. I must have saved just about every piece of scrap from that. (There’s still a descent sized slab and some odd offcuts left)
The teardrop shape helps lower the center of gravity to keep the stopper from toppling, even at nearly 5 inches from top to tip. The wood portion is 2 3/4” tall and 1 3/8 at it’s widest diameter, and is finished in boiled linseed oil. The stopper hardware is machined from a solid piece of stainless steel, not chrome plated that will flake off. Ever. So you can leave it in a nice bottle of Bordeaux for as long as you like, to no ill effect – not that anyone would wait that long.
This is the 5th item in my 30 day project/challenge
& auction.

Thanks! Incidentally Dick, this one (apart from gluing up the blank) just formed itself (and I had no catches requiring a redesign on the fly!)

Sounds good Scott,
Sometimes when you do get a catch, you can make an improvement from the accident, but this one turned out OK.
