Hi BJ! I’m glad to present my latest project. This week I came with the idea of trying another approach to creating a bottle opener. As you will know, some months ago I made another one for a friend of my who is living in Germany, with very different design (check it out here: http://lumberjocks.com/projects/108061 ). This time I wanted to change the whole concept, besides evolve more complex metalworking and try other wood specie (european walnut). You can judge that result isn’t perfect but for being a “prototype” I’m very satisfied with it. I just feel very fulfilled because I achieved what I’ve proposed to do, and it works pretty well. No bottle resists it!

Anyway, this is another example of a handmade product that you can make for your relatives for this Christmas.

I hope you enjoy the project, and here you have the video making of:

I appreciate your comments and visit. Merry Christmas for everyone.

Regards from Barcelona!

Very cool. I couldn’t make the link to your first opener work but I went to you project page and found it. I like them both.

Very, very nice bottle opener. Cool design, good function, looks great! You must love ‘making’, as that appeared to take some time. How long did you spend on the scroll saw? I hope that is stainless steel/inox so that it doesn’t rust.

How did you take so beautifull pictures?
It seems like taken in a studio.

Nice design! The curve of the handle gives a sense of the rocking motion when in use. Excellent work!

Thanks for comment, Kevin. I’m glad you’ve liked it. I spent about 20 or 30 min tops to make all the internal cuts with the scrollsaw. By the way, I broke some blades during this process. And I’m quite sure it’s stainless steel.

Thank you very much BasHolland. I’m also hooked to photography for many years and I try always to use it in my favor, especially when I take the pic of the final product. Anyway, about the filming process I’m still learning on every project. And if you wonder so, I use my reflex camera to filming too.

Thanks, sras! I took me about two weeks thinking of the design. I dedicate the most of the time thinking about the integration of the two materials, especially at the bottom of the bottle opener (see 2nd pic). I was looking for unique and smart way to make people wonder how I made that.

About the curve of the handle (which was not planned initially), I make it that way to improve the ergonomics. And when you leave it on the table it makes a rocking motion.

Thanks majvla! I’m trying to make more sophisticated video edition as I’m learning.

- muesli

Thank you muesli! I just try to not repeat what it’s already done from other woodworkers. Besides, I enjoy making things to encourage other people to do something by themselves. Thanks for subscribe to my channel. We’ve almost reach 900!!

Regards for everyone! Thanks for coming and comment.
