This is the first bandsaw box I have ever made. I learned a lot and I have a lot more questions. I am a perfectionist which doesn’t work well when trying to get into woodworking with no experience. This was made of cedar and finished with a lemon oil/cedar oil blend. I will be going to give it to my sister in law for christmas.

Thanks for looking and I am very open to constructive feedback as it will only make me better!

Looks great.
Surely to be well received and treasured….

Congrats on your first BS box. The more you build the more fun you will have. To keep your drawers lined up so you don’t have a larger gap at the top of the drawer, place some very thin pieces on the bottom of the drawer cut out..just thick enough so the drawer is not tight when opening it.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the feedback and the tips about making the drawer a better fit. I really struggled to glue the frame of the box back up without having the seam showing significantly. I used a pipe clamp and just never got it to fit perfectly during glue up. Thanks again for the comments!

Yes hiding the cut in line can be a pain at times. Try cutting that line with the grain…easier to hide…or what I do is many times accent the cut line. In other words if I have several cut in lines or cut lines between drawers, I will file the lines open a bit and round them over so they look like part of the design…look under my projects at some of the BS boxes I have made and you will understand what I’m talking about…and don’t be ashamed to ask questions.

You’re ahead of me, since I’m browsing to learn before trying out a first project. However, I got good at other hobbies by just making a lot of stuff, mistakes and all. These forums are pure gold, too. I just learned from looking at your BS box. Go get ‘em! Because I can use the guidance.

Have your say...
