This charging station is made from Ribbon Sapele scraps.
The piece was made to accommodate several devices. The top tray hides the transformers and excess wiring. The piece has small access holes to run the connecting wires to the devices for charging.
The Sapele was resawn and sanded to 1/8 thickness. The box was assembled using “box joinery” for strength and durability.

My dad wants me to build something like this for him. Did you work from a set of plans or just draw it yourself?

My daughter had something similar given to her that was made from cardboard. Needless to say, it wasn’t very sturdy or practical. So I used the idea to make it make it out of wood. So I didn’t have a set of plans, I didn’t really make a drawing either, I just used measurements from several devices and made the box to fit those items. I cut and planned the Sapele down to about 3/16” before sanding it to 1/8” to minimize tear out. Also, I cut the tails and pins for the box joints before sanding the pieces to size. The pieces for the tray were hand mitered on a small mitering jig.
