My granddaughter loves ballerinas, and I love my granddaughter. So …

Four ballerinas jump and spin on a polished cherry dance floor to the accompaniment of Beethoven’s Fur Elise (For Elise). I’m calling this one Fur Maggie.

Piece of cake … sorta.

Happy Holidays !!!

Great design and build! Your granddaughter is lucky and I’m sure you’ll get the greatest reward when her eyes light up. Merry Christmas.

Now, that is cool… Nothing like a little child to tame the beast in us men.

Thanks, guys. A few notes …

I get a kick out of my squeaky clean photos. The truth is that I totally trashed my shop while I was making it.

I’m becoming addicted to coming up with the most complex way possible to turn the handle on simple hand-cranked musical movements. I get them from Kikkerland, and If I Only Had A Brain is next on the list.
You can check them out here … http://www.kikkerland.com/products/hand-crank-music-boxes/
Hit the “Select Version” button for the list of tunes.

Can anyone guess how Dancing Ballerinas works … in 25 words or less?

Way to go grandpa! I’m sure she will be doing back flips when she sees it ;-)

John your granddaughter will treasure this and pass it to her daughter. A heirloom in the making! ... do you have any video of the ballerinas in action?

There’s no reward in doing anything simply. :) I do stuff the hard way every day. As my mother used to say, “your head will never save your heels.”
Great project John.

Turn the crank, music plays, ballerinas spin and go up and down.

I’m making a video tomorrow, 122014. I’ll post it when it’s done.
