This may have replaced the Platinum Bamboo Cigar Pen as my favorite.
I just love the chatoyance of the swirling grain, and how well it goes this wood looks with the black titanium hardware.
The mesquite hails from Texas. I’ve made one pen with it before, and it turned out to have a salmon/pinkish hue with bits of grey… This one however is totally different, beautiful grain with shades of brown, fairly accurate to the screen shot (at least on my screen).
This is the 3rd item in my 30 day project/challenge
& auction.
(oops, it’s the 3rd pen, but the 4th project overall)

I’ve made a Mesquite burl pen. It was redish/chocolate and it was great. I like your pen.

Your favorite? Don’t worry that won’t last. You’ll have another favorite…. and then another…. and then another…. etc.

Probably Kerux… but I’ve made quite a few, since the Bamboo pen (which is the only one I tend to carry) and as soon as I put this one together It pulled at my soul. Probably much like the One Ring to Gollum, but slightly less so… I hope I still get that feeling once in a while as I proceed on this journey.
Karson, Wow, i’m surprised to see/hear about the diversity of this wood. Lets see if the next mesquite one looks more like a distant relative than a kissin cousin.

Another great one Scott, I love the mesquite and it does match very well with the kit.

thanks! and thanks for noticing the shape Darryl… I really like how it looks and feels, Makes the straight Euro, (from bushing to bushing) look a little emaciated on the bottom, or disproportional to me now.

(oops, it’s the 3rd pen, but the 4th project. Stupid copy/paste ;)
Just posted the 5th item (which is really the 6th or 7th)... I have a bottle stopper top that I’m not quite happy with, the price of experimentation, and trying to post 30 sellable projects at the same time! I’ll elaborate in a 1st week wrap up blog post.
