Project Information

I have been thinking of making a shop sign for some time but just couldn't visualize the shape in my mind of what I wanted. When Jim Jakosh posted his fireman crosses recently it rang a bell and decided to use it. He was kind enough to send me a print to follow so it saved time instead of me measuring it out. Thanks Jim.
I downsized it a bit to fit on a wall in the basement shop instead of out in the garage where it was originally planned for. I eliminated the spaces at the points of the cross to better fit the lettering. I copied the tools on it from a picture I saw at a craft show.
I have two versions, one with the shavings on it and one without. Still can't make up my mind.
I bet you guys have some very cool and unique shop signs out there and I would like to see them.
So this is my version. Thanks for peeking.

Hey Roger thanks. Maybe I should make one telling them to keep out. Ha ha

Monte, just picturing yours with a big O' piece of Beetle kill. You deserve one.

Hi Klaus. I could imagine yours with a leg vise mechanism that open and closes the sign.

Thanks again Jim. If you get a chance, post it.

Maybe this would be a good idea to start a site for everyone to post their shop signs. I'll have to think about that.

Dave!

Super COOL Signs… It's amazing how the various things we see here ring certain Bells, isn't it?

Your signs are very nice… One thing I just thought of… if you were to get creative with Magnets, your tools could be moved around the sign to customize it "on the spot"... or, for that matter, substituted for the Real tools! :)

Very nice job! COOL!

Thanks for the compliment hoss.

Thanks Lee. I'm still thinking about changing a few things.

Thanks Mike

Thanks John.

Hi Joe. That's a cool idea about switching things around. I used rubber cement on the lettering and tools so the magnet idea may come about. I have a toy saw I could use right off the bat.

Thanks Ivan, kind of makes you feel proud.

Great signs !....I like the version without the shavings, only because there isn't a hand plane on the sign. But they both look good either way….Very cool…thanks for sharing….

Dave, they are both real neat, I like them.
A few years ago I made a free hand sign "My Shed", but before I could attach it My Darling claimed it for her shed.
So now I will have to make another one.
Thanks for the push.

Hi Buster, you can rain on my parade, just don't rain on my tools. Ha ha

kdc68, thanks. Never thought that the shavings came from the plane. Hmmmm, let me see.

Thanks Tony. I just cleaned up that area in the last picture. Maybe that is why it looks better.

Hi Bob, I would like to see a new "My Shed'' sign. Sounds cool. Better than my original, Dust Dome or Dust Depot.

Thanks Dean, still can't make up my mind.
