So while this is a finished project, I think it has more value as an inlay how-to.

The ease for adding the copper wire inlay was a surprise to me!

I just routed some free hand groves with a v-bit and then inlaid the copper wire. I glued it down with CA, hit it with accelerator and then sanded it flush.

All total it was under and hour in the shop, and that was with some expiermenting. I love the look but more than that I’m really excited about the possibilities! Add a template to this and you’ve got yourself a stunning box lid in with very little labor!

Hope you enjoy, thanks for looking!

Great idea and great video! I already have a lot of line drawing patterns from my days doing copper enameling, also have lots of copper wire that I scavenged from a dumpster before the price of copper went up, now all I need is the router (wondering if the flex shaft attachment for my Dremel would give me enough control – must write down these ideas to try when it is warmer – my shop is unheated and it is Winter here.)

Thanks for the inspiration! Have a great week, an even better weekend, and a fantastic Christmas.

Peter, that’s a colossally great idea. Who doesn’t love the look of copper?
