Nice platter, what is the wood? It is a shame about the split, try repairing it with colored epoxy

It isn’t split Tony, just looks like it. Thanks Lee I have to take the the all apart and slide the head all the way to the end of the lathe to turn it. Hey Thos. glad to see you made it back safe and sound and the Mrs. with all the Lions, wolves and bears. Not to mention the skeeters and black flies that grow as big as birds out there. LOL. Hope you had a good time in spite of the first deal falling through, that I read about. Anyway good to see God decided to let you join us for another year.

It looks like an eyeball to me and that makes the thing on the edge a cataract. Looks like the best cataract I’ve ever seen though. Good work.

Sorry Tony that thing that looks like a crack is actually part of that bark oclution it just barely goes all the way thru the wood. Thanks everybody for all the nice remarks. I’m glad I got it going too Dick, it’s like being missing a leg. It did give me a chance to make a box or two, a couple jigs, a
cataract or not it gets me out of the house and thats what I need.

With the quarter on it, Mike, my first reaction was, “Sweet offering plate!” Cherry is far and away my favorite wood to work. Very cool. Thanks for sharing this!

Hi Mike,
I’m sorry, I didn’t know you had cataracts. Are you planning on having surgery someday.
My sister had cataract surgery done this past summer, & she’s doing fine now.
