The Grinch is stealing my lights!

Last Christmas I saw a picture of a Christmas yard decoration of a Grinch stealing some lights off of a house. I decided that I was going to build my own thieving Grinch… since at the core… I’m a big Grinch too!

My Grinch is built from layered plywood to give it more of a 3-D look. With the help of my kids, we then painted it to match the famous menance. (I hate painting!) Take note that his eyes are yellow and red, not white and blue… pre-change-of-heart Grinch! (Yes! I love the Grinch!) I then finished it off with a few layers of spar urethane.

Fantastic lawn/light display!!!
Love it.
Much better than the tacky inflatables and injection molded plastic stuff.

That is really cool. Wished I’d have seen that earlier. I’ll have to see if I can make something like that for next year.

That is cool. Did you use plans? If so, would you be willing to share?

Nickdarr – I created my “plans” in Sketchup then projected it onto the 4’x8’ sheets of plywood and traced each layer. I’m happy to share the Sketchup design. Shoot me a message with your email and I’ll send you the Sketchup file.

Great looking display. I love the home much better than plastic. When I was young we had a life size nativity set cut out of wood. I took up our entire 20’ front porch.
