Serving Tray made for friend

Made this tray for a friend I work with, it’s a Christmas present for his wife. It’s made from Purple Heart, walnut and several other woods I can’t identify.

This is the first time I’ve made a tray with splayed sides and I went through a lot of scrap wood before I conceded and googled the compound miter angles. The finish is Tung oil and gloss wipe on poly.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Gshepherd, I Just winged it, I saw a tray something like this on here a year or so ago and fell in love with it.

That’s gorgeous!

I hear you on the splayed sides. I tried one with dove tails once. Had enough scraps to heat the shop for a month!
