Basic frame project with a little excitement!

I was making a frame for a Christmas gift when I nearly cut my thumb off. I had already cut the frame pieces and cut a rabbit to accept the glass, but then had to trim some off the 45’s to make the frame fit better. Since I did that now the glass wouldn’t fit so instead of firing up the router again (because it was late) I got the chisel out! I was guarding the tip of the chisel with my thumb/other hand, but let go JUST FOR A SECOND and the chisel slipped. Seven stitches later I returned to the workshop and picked up my chisel again, not the router I very well could have used it b/c it wasn’t late this time, but I wanted to finish what I started and I wanted to win. It’s worth saying that I left the blood on the chisel as a reminder.

The frame is awesome. Glad the the thumb was no worse than it was.

The frame looks good—the intact thumb looks even better!

Nice looking frame. Unfortunately, the school of hard knocks can be rather unkind at times.

Yikes! Frame looks great, thumb not so much.

Have your say...
