A guy from work gave me a bunch of old cigar boxes and as a sign of gratitude I made him this 2 moves to open puzzle box. I think he is going to have a blast!
I used a 1 3/8” maple dowel for the firing pin. The action end of the firing pin has an 1 1/4” flat washer epoxied into the end. The recieving/stationary end of the device has the mounts for the ring of gun caps which are headless nails drilled through and backed with another epoxied washer.
The gag is to tell him that there is 10 moves to open, and sit back and watch the first move. Because the mini explosion happens inside the box it is pretty safe and not quite as deafening as it is with the lid open I can tell you. There is quite the stinky smoke show when you open the lid as well, cough, cough.
Its funny how you can see roads not taken only after you have walked the road first. I think next time it might be a box that has a number of explosions happing as a chain of events, ...but I digress…it’s not that I am evil, I just love that I can start playing with these again, somehow, running around with a toy gun just doesn’t cut it anymore, sadly.
And, before you ask, yes, the explosives can be switched to have effect on a stink bomb instead, ...but that’s just nasty!
