Just a quick shot of my sleigh. I saw one like this here on LJ’s, and it looked simple enough for me to try on the bandsaw. Boy was I wrong! I guess you can’t cut out the holes for the runners with a continuous blade, and my coping saw skills leave a LOT to be desired – so it’s time to get a scroll saw!

This was a fun, quick project. Made it out of 1/4” ply, and bright red paint. It comes apart so we can store it later on.
Thanks for looking!

Where can I find patterns for the reindeer and sleigh that you’re using?

Looks great Jake and a lot of fun for the kids. When my grandkids got older I showed them how to use the scroll saw and they made a lot of Christmas gifts with it. They enjoyed those projects but they are all too busy with school, sports and work for that now, but I hope they will take it up again sometime later in life. I’m sure your kids will have a great memory of doing these projects with you and probably do the same with their kids when they grow up.

Mike, thanks for the kind comments. I look forward to getting a school saw son so my kids can really get into woodworking.

Nathan, I sent you a PM.

If anyone else would like my templates, I’ll make them available. Just realize that they are partly freehand drawings, partly taken from other people’s designs, partly just the random stuff floating around in my head. But they are mostly just scans of my drawings.
