Since I built my daughter the Tardis table lamp, figured I needed to build something for my son. He fancies himself as quite the outdoorsman so I decided to build him a fishing rod rack. There is a problem though, he spends quite a bit of time in the shop himself…humm need a diversion….oh yeah, I am building a umbrella rack for my wife’s school. I built a wall mount version of this for a friend a few years back but decided I wanted this one where he could move it around when needed. I recently bought some oak for a table top but as I went to cleaning it up, I noticed quite a few worm holes and it was spalted in places. Not exactly what I wanted for my table but perfect for this. To give it a little contrast I used walnut for the handles and for backing plates for the cedar bass at the bottom. The idea for the bass was a play on the mounted fish you see in a lot of outdoorsmens man caves. I have to mount the casters then find a good hiding place until Christmas.
