I took my 8 year old granddaughter to a friend’s lake where she used her new spinning rod/reel to nail several nice bass.

On the way home she was quiet and I asked what was wrong. “Grandpa, do you think I’‘m mature enough for a fly rod”? Sooo, naturally I built her a new fly rod. And she just had to have a wood case like mine, fortunately I still had some lacewood left to go with the maple.

  • - And the best part is when when she walks in the door, and asks one of 2 questions, depending on the weather: “Grandpa, can we go fishing”? or if the weather is not so nice, “Grandpa, can we go to your shop and make something? It doesn’t get any better than this!

Sounds like your granddaughter loves being with you. That case is excellent. Well done.

Absolutely outstanding! Your rod case design is the nicest I’ve seen. Thanks for sharing.
