In my opinion, maybe due to the amount of exposure and experience us woodworkers have, I believe that we can spot images in the grain. A few months ago, I turned a cherry burl with some awesome grain, and I had multiple opinions to make sure I wasn’t crazy, but everyone agreed with me that there was an outline of a dog in the burl grain. It almost looked like a golden retriever laying down. I should have taken a picture of it but didn’t even think to. In regards to this bowl, there is no doubt that there is a shape of a man out of the bark. I was rough turning this and when I took it off I couldn’t believe it. Its almost as if he has a combover haircut. He also has outlines for his ears, jawline and shoulders and neck. Unfortunately, I couldn’t keep this after the final turning but just wanted to share this because it tickled me to death. Keep your eyes out for patterns in the grain. Pretty neat what would can turn into on its own.

Nice work. I have done some Pear turnings and resawed some logs. It has some beautiful grain.
