Here is another box that I finished a couple of weeks ago. I really like the combination of Walnut and Zebrawood and to really make the Zebrawood standout, I made the “slip feathers” out of walnut also so there was no contrast and your eyes go right to the top.

Gene, I agree the walnut draws your attention to the zebrawood. Another great combination of woods and a great looking box.

That is a nice clean corner. I have a 7” x 36” piece of Zebra wood. I will have to match it up to some Walnut that is a nice combination.

As the others have said – great wood combination. I’ve recently got hold some black walnut offcuts from a furniture producer. I’m sure I can get the zebrawood. Looking closely at how you fit your lid – does the lid edge overlap the walnut sides or run up to the edge of them?
Either way – it looks a really neat finish.

I really like your boxes. I plan to make some for Christmas presents but I am having a problem finding the right hinges. They are either too cheap or too expensive. What kind of hinges do you use?

Ampeater, tks for the comments…....... I use the 1-1/8” kerf hinges from Rockler or Woodcraft.
They are inexpensive and are easy to install and look great…..the only part of the hinge that shows is the barrel. I was going to use the Brusso hinges as they are the absolute best quality, but at $32.00 a pair, I opted for the kerf hinges.
Good luck and look forward to seeing your completed projects…..

That is a great combination of woods. Looks like coco and coffee rolled together.

Davidtheboxmaker, sorry I missed your post a few days ago, thanks for the comments…........
I overlapped the lid inset on these boxes…....... I am trying various methods to see which one I like the best, or maybe use them all, who knows…
