I made this whiskey tumbler tray from strips of teak laminated together,I used a wine rack I seen at a Lidl store here in Ireland as a template to route the holes for the bases of the glasses,it was perfect and cost about $7. I am just learning to use my router so this was a great project,I used the router with the template for the glass bases and with a roundover bit with a bearing for the edges.I finished with foodsafe oil as like the non shiny finish.I will be using nicer glasses with the tray ,the ones in the picture are just so I could get an idea of what it will look liike.

Very nice build and great use of the wine rack for the template. I’d say you are learning to use the router very well

Thanks Larry, everyday is a learning for me when it comes to the router,I think its the best tool I have bought so far.I am making my workbench at the moment and used the router to make the grove for a drawer bottom to fit in,I am really happy with it!

Thanks tooch, there are two of the plastic template pieces in the wine rack box so I am going to make one into a square template with rounded edges by cutting out the plastic joining the circles.

Great looking whisky tray! Also, nice use of the template—no point in making a fancy jig, when something simple does the job!
