It took me 2 months to build this 8-drawers high chest for my wife. Since the wife likes walnut furniture, I build the whole project with walnut, claro walnut for the frame and side panels, and black walnut for the table top and drawer fronts. This is the first time I tried hand-cut dovetail for the drawers, and it turns out quite well. The wife is happy with it. The finish is oil plus amber shellac, and one coat of poly.

Thanks for reading! and any suggestions are welcomed.

That’s some eye-catching figure on the side panel!
I’d like to see the front of the drawers better though, please…
Elegant, great piece !

What and excellent piece. Dovetails are nice and tight… Book matching on the side panel is stunning. And the finish is perfect… Seems like many finish Walnut so dark that you loose all the contrast in the grain, but yours accentuates it.

Looks awsome! Walnut is my favourite too. Dovetails are great.

For walnut, do NOT use linseed oil, it just make the wood too dark. I used mineral spirit plus amber shellac this time, and arm r seal is also a good choice.

Added two pictures. It is kind of dark today, so the pictures are not so clear.

Talk about beauty. Your wife could never find a chest of drawers like that one in any store. It is fantastic.
