My Son asked me to make some piggy banks for his two little girls.

First off I made two boxes from perspex, I thought they were a “bit of alright” but they got the thumbs down as “not really girlish”

So I set to work back in July making some wooden piggy banks, the progress of is the subject of a blog for those interested in that sort of work.

The timber is Oregon cut out using a template, the three sections glued together and then sanded to shape.

The “Fur” is three different colours of flocking, the ears are wooden dowel. The eyes are from my Craft Tub accessory box.

Very fiddly work but a lot of fun. I will see if I can get a shot at Christmas with them and add it later.

All the very best for Christmas !... and enjoy.

Hello Joe and Pete,

There is a fitting in the bottom to get the loot out later, you need a big screwdriver so hopefully its a parent job!

The piggies are really quite cute! The googly eyes especially – gives us a little something extra to look at too. Haha! Sorry really bad pun. But I’m sure with all the great comments that you’re getting here, you might want to jump on the bandwagon of creating more of these cutesy money storage holders. Maybe cows or other farm animals? I’m sure you might even be able to find a bunch of people who are willing to pay for a handmade craft like these!
